hi y'all, i went back and had a look at my other article and realized that i really hadn't explained my tab very well, since i have this weird private shorthand method for jotting down exercises quickly (mucho thanks to PeK for pointing it out, without saying "Zy you moron!" or anything :D ). So, here i've laid out the first two exercises longhand for anyone that got confused :) as well as a couple new ones.

Some points to note: 1) the exercises are in the key of [A major/F# nat. minor]- they ascend in A Ionian fingering and descend in B Dorian; 2) these exercises can be played using alternate picking, legato, economy picking, OR a combination (i tend to practice them using strict alternate-picking, and then use a combo when soloing); 3) ex. #1 requires 3 strings per "cell" to run a complete iteration of the pattern, so when you reach the [B string ascending/A string descending], the pattern gets broken; 4) when descending, the pattern is the same as the ascending pattern, just upside down/backwards. How's THAT for twisted? :D
